Scan4dots is a computer assisted e-learning and testing platform, design to come in help for both teachers and self-studying students giving a flexible evaluation procedure. Based on a solid hierarchical user management (three types of users with different privileges and attributions: administrators, teachers and students) and a well structured content stratification (categories, courses, lessons, tests) SFD can be a very useful tool for both organized study groups and individuals seeking for an impartial method of evaluation.
The application was developed using edge technologies that offer stability, flexibility and operating system independence.
Written in PHP as server-side scripting and MySQL relational database system, scan4dots outputs a cross-browser XHTML 1.0 Transitional interface, modeled through the latest CSS 2 (cascading style sheets) standards. The resulted documents of the program are in the most popular formats, which cut their way through world.s programming community choices: PDF (Portable Document Format), XML (eXtensibile Markup Language) and XLS (Microsoft Excel). As an innovative thing brought to evaluation engines, mobile phone access through WML was granted.
