The promise of fault-tolerant quantum computing - Prezentari 2016 Nationala

Descriere

As the miniaturization of transistors is close to reaching the atomic limit and the end of Moore’s law is in sight, major investment is now put into the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing schemes. They promise up to super-polynomial speedup and the efficient simulation of physical processes, which could lead to breakthroughs in related fields such as biology and medicine. I will introduce the principles and advantages of quantum information processing and give an overview about current experimental efforts on the way to build a fault-tolerant quantum computer.
